What a ‘scorchio’ day Sunday was in Poole Park and Town! Fortunately, we managed to find a nice shady spot for both the Registration and Start for our Poole Town Race. There was a lot going on in the park, in addition to our event: the Junior Park Run and, later, the Run for Life. We only managed to discover the exact route of  the latter event on the morning itself, and we had to close our Start for about 15 minutes while the 1000+ runners streamed through the underpass from Baiter into the Park – exactly where our competitors needed to go! We also had to keep our Start open for about 45 minutes longer than planned due to the traffic congestion on the M3/M27 and surrounding roads which was leading to competitors taking twice as long to get to Poole. People were coming from Oxford, Berkshire Hertfordshire etc. and they looked pretty exhausted by the time they arrived!

Anyway, the event went off well and we just about managed 100 runners, I believe.

The top 3 places for WSX were as follows:

Womens Young Junior: Lyra Medlock 1st     Eskarina Medlock   2nd

Mens Hypervet: Bill Brown  3rd

Mens Supervets: Tim Houlder  2nd

Mens Vets: Dale Paget  1st  Peter Suba  3rd

Mens Open: James Crickmore  1st  Alan Blanchflower  2nd  John Cook 3rd

Well done to you all.

And many thanks to everyone who helped out on the day, including the Medlock family who did such a splendid job on the Start.

Next few local events coming up are:

July 1st – Dorchester   July 3rd  Littledown   July 8th Wimborne
